Check the dock's announcement board or the Visitor Center for dates and times of ranger-guided programs.
Snorkeling:
Patches of coral reef, some accessible from the shore and in
shallow water, makes this a great place for snorkeling.
Fishing:
Sport fishing is permitted. Lobstering and spear fishing are not.
A Florida fishing license
is required, which can be gotten in Key West.
Boating:
Private boats can visit the park. Nautical charts can be obtained
at the visitor center, Key West U.S. Coast Guard Station, and the Key West
Chamber of Commerce.
Bird Watching:
The Dry Tortugas are well know for spring bird migrations and
its tropical birds.
Sooty Turn Nesting
During the nesting season each year from March through September thousands of Sooty Turn are gathering at
Bush Key. Although Bush Key is closed that time, the rookery may be observed with binoculars from Fort Jefferson on nearby Garden Key.
