But seriously, nearly every card on the market today runs way too hot to be cooled passively.Even if you can find one, it will be expensive, and it will be slow.Cards just run faster when they’re cooled by a fan.

However, seeing True Religion Australia as this is an htpc that we are discussing, performance may not be an issue(If there’s no gaming), but if this HTPC is small formfactor, passive cooling would be really hot, thus increasing the temperature in the whole system, which is bad.

To sum up, this htpc may be able to get away with a low performance, passively cooled card, but not if it’s a small case(Size of a game console).

Actually, there are a bunch of cards using unusual passive cooling.I picked up the evercool turbo the homepage here 2 to throw on my 1950pro.I used to hear my video card over everything else. (I wouldn’t recommend it though.Get a big near silent 120mm fan.Much safer for your components. )
