Sky Tram/Trek (best in CR ***)
This is an amazing excursion. Sky trek is by far better than any of the other ziplines I have done in Costa Rica.
We took our two 8 year old boys this spring. They had a great time and it seemed plenty safe. The kids ride with a guide alongside, so they often went faster than we did, much to their delight. We also did the Sky bridge tour, unfortunately at mid-day, but even so, saw nearly as much wildlife as at Monteverde! If I were to do it again, I’d do the walk early, then the zip line later.

We went because we wanted to see quetzals and hike in the cloud forest. If that doesn’t interest you, you can easily fill up the time in Arenal - there’s tons of things to do there. Monteverde was quite cold and rainy when we were there. We had to wear sweatshirts at night, and our hotel had the fireplace going. If you’re looking for a place to stay in MV, we enjoyed Fonda Vela. They have some new junior suites that are comfortable and pretty affordable.

It really will depend on when you’re coming. If you’re there during the green season, definitely do only the morning tour, at night it usually rains and if not, it’s usually muddy after the rain.However, during the dry season go for both! 50% of the night animals come out at night, so it’s a super cool tour

对于象我这样出行不多的人，对航空公司的忠诚度近乎于零。money talks, 从来是哪家航空公司的机票便宜坐哪家。这一回，Austin飞Bozeman, $280/round trip应该是个难得的好deal, 因此也有机会见识一下廉价航空Frontier Air。

飞之前的头一天上网check in 打登机牌，发现从某月某日起，美国国内的托运行李一律收费，Frontier是十五刀一件。和LD一反映，LD当机立断，把一个大行李箱分拆成两个小的手提行李箱，也好，连取行李的时间都省了。装行李其实是有学问的，感兴趣的朋友可以看看Onebag 这个网站。拖家带口的，既不能象road trip似的把锅碗瓢盆都捎上，也不能象solo travel backpacker似的精简到一个行囊走天下。好在LD已是亲车熟路，看着两个手提行李，7天的换洗衣服，想想以后要是去欧洲，也是这么多东西了。

但是手提行李有手提行李的麻烦。这不，机场安检这里，一个行李箱被当成了训练样本，X光机过了一遍又一遍，望远镜，化装包，都当成可疑物品，最终没收了一瓶没开封的防晒霜。好不容易在机舱口坐稳，眼尖的Frontier大嫂又要我们把行李拖过去量大小。怎耐我们有备而来，箱子大小不多不少，刚刚好，大嫂很不甘心地把我们放过了。

Frontier的hub是Denver 机场，廉价航空公司的优势之一是飞机的航班接的很紧，我们这趟飞机在Denver稍停之后接着飞Las Vegas, 所以Austin两班乘客并一班，是满员的。而且上一班飞机飞到Austin，停了不到半个钟就重新起飞了。航空公司是提高了效率，但是不可避免的几个弊端， 一是飞机越来越脏了，象公共汽车，你上去一坐，还能感觉到上一班乘客屁股的余热。另外如果同班飞机在上一站误点了，你只好慢慢等了。遇到过飞机该来没来的，遇到过飞行员该来没来的。Frontier去年闹的一条新闻是飞机满员，遇到气流的时候一个乘客没位置坐，被赶到厕所里坐了两个钟直至飞机降落。听起来有些天方夜谭，却是现实中实实在在发生的故事。还好，这一次我们没有那么“荣幸”，虽然满员，但是座位还在一起，而且没有和厕所相连，知足了。

飞机上的娱乐节目是刷卡的，“猫食”是收费的，手提行李是不能超重的。之前欧洲廉价航空公司的CEO还建议，飞机上的厕所也要投币，!@#$%，我只能感慨一句，太有创意了。同样有创意的是中国某航空公司的老总，不记得哪家了，说是向航管居提议，短程航班应该允许卖站票，真是绝了。在不久的将来，你坐飞机如果遇到和坐长途车一样的场景，不必太过惊讶，那是航空公司在努力提高营运效益而已。

不过钱都省到这个份上了，不管是借着油价上涨的名义，还是经济不景气的理由，航空公司还是在亏钱，老牌的也好，廉价的也好。据说今年年底又会有N家公司要申请破产。别的不说，还捂着航空股票的朋友，还是早点放手吧。

O8上台之后，似乎有提议在老美修建欧洲日本一样的高速铁路，不过迟迟没有动静，反倒中国这方面迎头赶上。最近回国的朋友回来纷纷称赞国内的高铁。真有一天，老美的高铁四通八达了，我出游一定首选它。慢是慢点，但总比象沙丁鱼一样关在飞机上几个小时强。老胳膊老腿了，每次下了飞机都有酸又痛。同情空姐空嫂的同时，想着人类文明发展这几年真是停滞了不少。

扯远了。都是自己没能力，人家四川富人买了价私人飞机，肯定没有我这么多抱怨。人家肯定觉得社会进步地刚刚好。

今年的暑假，两个人都很忙。自己的项目能什么时候告一段落，一直没有把握。两个月前开始零零星星查飞黄石附近Bozeman MT的机票，一路查下来，眼看着机票从$350一路攀升，满意的行程越来越贵，都快$400了。跟我家小宝打预防针，说暑假也许不出去玩了，小宝很失望，也怪老爸放假前就“许了诺”，这会儿是期望越高失望越大。小家伙现在半个大人了，不是小时候那么容易打发了。

一转眼已经六月底了，离机会出游的日子不到21天了，一天中午，不报希望地用ITA查查，突然发现AUS—BZN的机票，周六到周六，居然只要$280。真是人品太好了。虽然出发的时间不是很理想，但这么便宜的机票还是太难得了。立即下单敲定。Frontier/UA share code。接着和LD邀功，全家都高兴。

行程只有六日六夜，原先打算Yellowstone/Grand Teton和Glacier NP一网打尽的，那是一个七日行程的玩法。这会儿，决定放弃Glacier NP, Yellowstone 4 day + Grand Teton 2 day，还是来个轻轻松松的黄石游吧。

租车很容易，发现一家英国的car hire arguscarhire.com 要比老美这面的网站都要便宜，原先去Alaska就用它家订的。

剩下的最头疼的就是旅馆了，这会儿，又好又便宜的旅馆都订满了，希望能捡到别人改主意取消的房间。慢慢再报告吧。

大伙暑假去黄石的应该不少吧。报个名，交流交流功课，有机会大家路上还能碰到呢。

一晚上，旅馆也搞定了，贵就一个字。参考tripadvisor的一些评价，希望不要太不靠谱。

Memorial Day 长周末，有朋友相约去户外走走，但是没想好去哪儿。其实每年这会儿，我们多半是在Corpus海边遛弯洗海澡了。可是今年计划得晚了。这会儿，想着烈日炎炎下，没水的地方是去不得的，就选西南边的Pedernales Falls State Park吧。

刚来Austin的时候，曾经迷恋过Pedernales Falls一阵儿，那会儿，是LD迷上钓鱼的时候。可惜德州这儿还是旱季多，眼看着河水是越来越浅，Amigo兄弟越来越多，而鱼的收获却一次比一次少，慢慢的，兴趣也就淡了。想想看，已经N年没有去了。

计划定在周日。先睡了个自然醒，起床看看外面，似乎多云有雨的样子。上网一查，说是下午雷阵雨，50% chance. 想着自己出去玩，人品一直不错，十一点钟的时候，朋友们也都聚齐了，小朋友们也兴致盎然，还是按原计划出发吧。

不远，State Park 离Austin半个钟到一个钟的距离。长周末，举家出游的很多。交了门票十刀（涨价了 ），一路开进园子里，先去了picnic 野餐区。好多家BBQ炉子已经烧起来了，到处是熟悉的烤肉味道。虽然我们是野餐，朋友笑着说BBQ的感觉也有了。忙着吃了，没拍什么照片。

天公还算给面子，吃了大半个钟，大伙儿正西瓜水果吃的带劲儿的时候，小雨哩哩啦啦下起来了。看看，好像也就头顶上这块云，得，挪个地方吧。

直接开到下面Pedernales Falls，这是我和LD原先钓鱼的地方，有感情。想着那会儿，可是盼着常常下雨，然后等着周末天晴就往这儿跑的。

来个全景吧。看的出来，今年春天的水还是不大啊。

这水要是说是瀑布，是小了点儿。

大片赤裸的岩石，和坚强的小溪。

有山有水有河流。慢慢看看，还是很有味道地。

最重要的是，铁杆的渔民伯伯一直都在。

有收获吗？小姑娘腼腆地show给我看。

我哭，想当年这样的sunfish 我们是不可能留下来的。知道为什么没有鱼了吧？

其实真正的原因在这儿。在哪儿？看着左下角的白衣美眉了吧？

偶说这位大叔，虽然你的撒网动作很优美，虽然老美的经济危机很严重，但是，但是，你也不需要竭泽而鱼吧。

遥想当年，偶们一腔的钓鱼热情，就是这样被熄灭的。

而如今，我 家LD，在水一方，只能在回忆中追寻她的梦。

当太阳从云缝中重新钻出来，我从沙滩一梦中醒来，小孩子们满脸沙子湿着裤子爬上岸，大家收拾心情，上路。

“忧伤，被泪湿坏了翅膀。。” 车里面，我家LD吟诵着钓不到鱼的心情。

周末，有朋自远方来，被要求做地主之谊，小品一下Austin的风情。怎奈毕竟是腊月时节，天气忽热忽冷，不是Austin的最佳旅游时节。考虑一晚，拟出一道方子，一天下来，朋友和小朋友都还满意。现在把方子贴出来，有其他带小朋友的家长来Austin, 也可以照方抓药。

建筑颇有气势，有人说有小白宫之像。妙的是可以随意免费到里面参观，即使周日也开门。赞一下。当车游Austin Downtown中心之后，这是一个歇脚的好地方。如果天气好的话，前面的草坪也是小孩子撒欢的宝地。

这个原先是可以参观的，白白净净的南部庄园建筑，可惜08年中一把火给熏黑了，没钱修缮，所以一直关着。由此可见民主社会州政府市政府也不容易，兜里没什么闲钱啊。所以可以开车兜一下，对比我们乡镇政府也能修山寨白宫的事实，批判一下老美资本主义的“窘迫”模样。

Zilker是Austin的一块宝地，更是有小孩子的家长常常去休息的地方。tutu 小火车，摸爬滚打的playground, 天气适宜，可以河里荡舟，温泉中泡澡，草地上放风筝。。。大人们，找个荫凉地一坐，或者几家聚聚来个BBQ，让小孩子自由自在的疯去吧。

上周末和朋友家一起，赶在小朋友开学之前，去Corpus Christi消消暑。这一回因为只有两家人，大家商量一下，想定个带厨房的。没太提前准备，结果vrbo上许多海边的vacation home都被人预订了，最后找到的这家Texas Coastal Vacations是个condo, 房间很多，还是beach front的，就在航空母舰那面，地脚很方便，但是房间有些老旧，不是很大，不过厨房、凉台、冰箱、微波炉都有，也算麻雀虽小五脏俱全了。这个condo complex还出售单间的condo供投资用，投资的回报自然是夏天出租给我们这类游客了。

周五早上九点出发的，十二点多到的T-head, 运气不错，最后一艘捕虾船回来了，我们的晚餐是？白灼大虾和热热的三鲜饺子，配上些小酒，味道真的好极了。

哈，刚刚写完今夏不出游的blog, 就看到了纽约时报的这篇文章：31 Places to Go This Summer，文中开篇明义， 这么说的：

心想着不错，这不就是我想说的意思嘛，不过，文章中下一段来了个“However”，看来还要硬凑凑数，作家才好把稿费拿到手，于是往下读，结果。。。

德州这地方，Corpus Christi 算是不错的海滨城市了。具体日子还长，在这儿设个据点，供朋友们边盖楼边商量，顺便帮我这儿除除草，长长人气。

今晚上书店翻翻Washington/Seattle的旅游书，发现相关Washington State的书非常少，和某些州相比简直少的可怜，看来Washington不是老美一般的旅游热点啊。不过一本书中看到Washington是吃Oyster的天堂，其它贝类也不错。嗯，看来我这次的旅行要定调为海鲜之旅啊。

嗯，走之前要吃几头大蒜把胆固醇给降降。

另外有机会要收集几家好的海鲜餐馆和Oyster Farm地址。
